Academic Bio
Luiza is a PhD student in Egyptian Archaeology. She received her BA with university and departmental honors at Brown University in May 2018, majoring in Egyptology and Archaeology. Her thesis focused on the materiality of mudbricks in ancient Egypt and on the significance of their use in the construction of royal palaces. Her interests lie in the study of kingship, its legitimacy, and diverse legitimization strategies in different periods. She has excavated in Italy, Peru, Brazil, and Jordan. She also worked with the Giza Project at Harvard University, with the Egyptian collections at both the National Museum of Brazil and the RISD Museum, and as an educator at the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology at Brown University. Also at Brown, she served as a research assistant in the preparation of two faculty publications.
