Academic Bio
Matthew Hewett is currently a PhD student at The University of Chicago. His research interests include the development of writing, comparative epigraphy and orthography (especially of the Northwest Semitic languages), and typological and genetic classification within the Semitic family, particularly from the perspective of diachronic syntax.
Matthew graduated from Boston College with his B.A. in Linguistics, where he received an Advanced Study Grant to participate in the Leon Levy Expedition to Ashkelon, Israel.
